Coba

Our tour to Coba starts with pick up at your resort at 7:00 to 8:00 (pick up times depend on location of your resort) and you will be driven south to Tulum where you will then head inland to the famous Coba ruins. Coba is situated around two lagoons and is thought to have first been inhabited around 100 B.C. and having a population later upwards of 50,000 persons. The site contains several large structures with "Nohoch Mul" at 42 meters tall which you may still climb. Coba continued to grow and be a powerful community for the Yucatan controlling the trading routes and being the center of agriculture.

It is believed that Coba was abandoned with the invasion of the Spanish in the 1500's. Your Private Tour provides your transportation there and all entrance fees including an excellent archeological guide and the "Mayan Taxi" service of a three wheeled bicycle with bench seating for two. we provide one per couple. The drivers are local Mayan men from Coba and speak Mayan, Spanish and some English. They peddle you through the jungle pointing out special sites and steles.

The "taxi" will eventually take you to the pyramid Nohoch Mul that you may climb if you choose. The view from the top looking out over the jungle is stunning. It is a climb that should be taken with caution. You will spend about two hours inside the ruins, after your visit to the amazing archeological site we take you to snorkel in a cenote (part of the underground river system that the Yucatan is famous for). Next we go to Turtle Bay in Akumal to snorkel with the different types of turtles in their natural environment and see the reef where we are likely to encounter eagle rays, sting rays, lots of tropical fish and even squid!! Then its time for a wonderful lunch at a great seaside restaurant on the beach where you are served three courses (appetizer, main course and dessert) all you pay for there are your drinks and tip. This all inclusive tour is 185 per person (if you are five or more the price is 170 each). you also have the option of adding Yal ku the Natural Aquarium for 20 each.

For those interested only in a non swimming tour you may add self guided tour of Tulum instead of snorkeling.
